Well if this isn't impressive..! The Voice System is an insanely great idea! Does the Shark really react to the calls? That would be truly innovative. Nothing short of genius! This should be the main selling feature of the game.

All of this stuff runs on Unreal Engine 3 though, am i right? Compared to this all the effort in Unity seems like tiny baby steps. It just looked so much better two years ago!

Even more maddening now that the UE3 Developer Kit was released for free! If i had a say in the Development Process, i'd say throw that Unity Stuff out the window and return to this awesome technology you had going on two years ago! ...hey, i DO have a say in the development process, don't i? ;)

Seriously, i think returning to UE3 would be a wise choice for the quality of the game.

Please do NOT spread these links as we'll be forced to take the videos down

I don't mean to be rude, but wtf man. First of all, you're not allowed to spread that specific link (the other one has been publically posted by ZPS) and second of all, there's a thread right on the first page of the forums that is stickied that allows for discussion of this exact topic.

And have the developers start from scratch of everything they have made and potentially going bankrupt again? No, the unity engine is a great engine and is much easier to work with rather than the UE3, there is just too many errors in this plan to point out :p

please edit out that link asap!

I have clicked the report button...not to report you but in the hopes that the devs may edit your post before you notice it yourself :)

We are not allowed to share the link, but free to talk about all the awesome content :D

Anyway, back to the topic.

I agree with weirdoo, Unity is too well suited to ZPS' needs (quick development ideal for their chapter releases) and it would cost too much time and money to switch back now.

I've said it since the beginning and I'll say it again, say NO to UE3. They've pushed Unity to amazing new heights and I can't wait to see the arms race between ZPS and Unity team once Unity 3.x goes live and Interstellar Marines begins to take advantage of, and push, this new engine.

Double Post so I might as well: Argoon, what about Unity 2.6 is inferior to UE3 graphically? I think Running Man on highest looks absolutely stunning, especially considering the assets aren't 100% complete yet.

Besides, how many games are built on UE3? Quite a few. And if they're not, it seems like they're using some modified version of it. Its a nice change of pace to see a new engine being used.

Go back to U3? So you never want to play the game, then?

Seriously though, if they ever did switch back, I would be taking bets on which comes out first: HL2:E3 or IM.

IM will be using the nex gen Unity 3.x engine so this "go back to UE3!" stuff is not needed, i was also one of the people that thought that Unity engine was inferior graphically to UE3 (and it is at its current 2.6 version) but the new Unity 3.0 is as good as UE3.

Just look to this video of Unity 3.0 and tell me if you are still thinking ZPS should go back to UE3.

well, the GDC vid is now on the home page of IM, so I guess the NDA for that at least is no more?

And I agree, for the situation ZPS are in switching back to UE3 would be too much to work/waste of money

strife that is far from the whole GDC video...the whole thing is around 15 mins ;) The video on the frontpage is what they used to gather interest from the publishers

Maybe in the Future, but definitely not right now.
