cool18 not sure if this is really the right place to ask such a question... :)

But very breifly: It is highly unlikely that any company would hire someone as a game tester and have them work from home... Being a game tester(in the early phase of development) is a lot more involved than simply playing a game. If you really want to be a game tester there are ways to go about it, first thing would most likely be to get involved in as many open betas as you can and learn how to provide useful feedback to the devs

this is a question to AAA indie corperation

hi im a huge fan of games and i cant wait for interstellar marines to come out its going to awesome however to get to the point of my question how can i become a game tester and work from home and get payed for it if u have a responce to this u can reach me at hamby_2@hotmail.com thanks

Being a game tester is a boring boring boring boring job. I had a friend that did it for Sony, and have no idea how he put up with it for as long as he did. You basically play the same game over and over for months on end trying to find and recreate bugs and exploits, and then meticulously document the stuff. If you work for a company with more than one game, you do not get to pick what you work on.

I doubt anyone would hire people for offsite testing, as giving out alpha/beta builds of games to unsupervised locations is not usually a smart idea unless you WANT your game leaked. Also, if devs are having a hard time recreating bugs you found, they would want you on hand to show them how you did it.

So good luck becoming a tester, with its bad pay and long hours and all. Just don't expect to be able to work from home ANYWHERE in the field.

quick thought... might be a good idea to do a small update to the first post in the thread? Hopefully the bullseye release will bring in some more traffic

The closest we are to system specs are the recommended for the current vault release:

* OS - Windows XP / Vista
* Browser - Firefox
* Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
* Memory - 2.0 GB RAM
* GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 and above
* Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible

But with the bullseye release they may be changed...and may not :) Remember the final release is still semi-far away, so my personal guess is that the specs will change a lot during development.

My real question regarding system specs is whether or not IM will be XP compatible. My graphics card really can't run DX10/11 very well, and my money goes to more important things than computer guts.

Good question.

Release of the first full game is still a long ways off so by that I can imagine a lot of games not supporting xp anymore. As the game is intended to be graphically impressive it is kind of hard to tell if it will have support for directx 9 when it is released...

However The good news is that ZPS is using Unity, the following is a quote from their own features page:

Support for Old Hardware and Drivers

Many potential players are using outdated graphics hardware and drivers. Even many >common computer configurations are much less than ideal for games. Unity has built-in >fallbacks and workarounds for compatibility problems. Unity has rock-solid support for >almost all hardware/software combinations, in both DirectX and OpenGL.

I wouldn't worry too much about that now; it's a long way until 2013 for everybody.

Is there any chance of future Mac support?

I would think so, since Unity supports teh Mac.

Depends on how much the community wants Mac support I suppose as well.

Good, because if there is going to be, I will go Spearhead no question. This game is highly epic, to use a lame term.

Trust me, the more people go Spearhead, the better the odds of it being on a Mac. If people who want it on Mac don't sign up for a Spearhead/Frontliner account, then of course, it won't be on a Mac (and game might not even come out without enough support).

Of course, I understand your fears and need for confirmation, but I think that it being on a Mac is a safe bet, personally. Also...

Speculation dude.

Great FAQ! Ran in to this game a few months back and finally made the jump to Spearhead. I love First Person Shooters and I love Indie Games. So this is a win-win for me. Good luck on the game guys! I will pop in on the site and forums occasionally to check in.

What was the word on Mac OSX Support again? Those online Demos work fine, but i don't really plan to play the full game in my browser eventually. How will this be handled?
