Hello everyone~ Here is where we will be holding the official roleplay from this original thread now. I moved it here to avoid complications at later dates with the length of the thread, we were already on page 8! For right now I just want everyone to post their characters, then I will setup the first interval. I know this is copy and paste for the most part, but if there are things you want to add or change your format I don't want to take that away from you. Also want to make sure everyone knows the RP is here and is ready. The reason why I want everyone's characters here is for ease of access for everyone.

The way this is going to work is I have split the story up into several different intervals. Each interval has an objective, and once we complete the interval's objective we move onto the next one. I split it up like this to allow flexibility to everyone. Should someone fall behind and lose track of what's going on, they can join back in once the next interval starts. This way no one gets kicked out due to inactivity. We will explain the absence with something simple like they stayed behind to cover the flanks. All I ask is if you have to re-enter by this method, you catch up with what's been happening.

Everyone must also account for their own gear. This means damage done to it, ammunition supplies, and things like that. I'll be keeping a tab on this to, so no trying to reload your gun if you don't have to ammunition for it! Ammunition is the only thing you don't need to specify right now though, in the first interval we pick up our gear, we'll hand out ammunition then.

Name: Captain Sebastien Bock

Standard I.M. gear, but with the no visor helmet depicted in the pic of the week. He'd also have the supplementary shoulder pads depicted in the picture of the week, as well as custom made supplementary shin/knee guard combo. Imagine the Halo: ODST shin guards.

Attributes: Fairly well rounded soldier, who hates stealth. He is very head strong and gets caught up in combat easily. Outside and often before combat, he can develop solid strategies. He entrusts his team to hold him to his own plans and keep him from getting too caught up in battle. It is said his fury in battle is only tempered by his kindness off the field.

Personality: He takes pride in his work, and is kind to his fellows. He works his hardest to ensure his team's survival, and will never quit until a job is done. He never leaves a man behind. He believes it is his utmost important duty to return every soldier that goes into battle with him. It's rumored he keeps a list of all those he failed to protect to help him remember these fallen. He is very conversational. Anything he can talk about, he will talk about. His kindness makes him attempt to reach out to his fellow comrades. He can be persistent though, which normally isn't good. He always looks for the best in his comrades, but expects the worst. He's optimistic to any and every challenge.

Stats: He stands 1.78 m tall in his early 40s. He has light blue eyes are people describe in two lights, one as warm and welcoming when he's happy, but then cold and icy when he's emotionally triggered. It makes his emotions hard to read, because you can never tell if he's sad, mad, confused, in deep though, or just plain annoyed. His hair is a dark brown, buzz cut.

Weapons and Equipment: He has the standard I.M. assault rifle. Attached on it is a hi-tech red dot-esq scope. This scope is modified of it's predecessor to calculate and display the gun's weight to help the user better estimate their current ammunition inside the rifle, as well as a gun camera located just below the barrel to increase accuracy. It is much more bulky then it's predecessor. He also has a foregrip. Attached onto the standard I.M. backpack he has a Mobile Communications Relay. It eats up storage space he would normally have, mainly ammunition storage, but it allows him to communicate with 'No Regret' directly with no interference thanks to an enhanced coding that would require a hack of 'No Regret' to gain access to. The backlash, is should something happen to 'No Regret' this relay would stop working.

Update!

There is now a discussion thread, located at this link ( http://www.interstellarmarines.com/forum/threads/id/1860/?page=1#snap_post69565 )

We also have a new adventurer joining us. He'll be entering in at Interval 3. The reason I allowed this is because the laboratory obviously isn't going to leave it's entrance unguarded when it's a top secret laboratory right? This new character is such, originally was an NPC I had planned but now is being filled with a player. His character sheet is located on the discussion thread.

Name: Alex Matuška

Age: 43

Height: 172 cm

Weight: 74 kg

Personality: Intelligent, introvert, a bit lazy in normal contitions, but under the pressure very efficient due to his psychological resilience

Role: Combat medic

Loadout: Standard issue light armor with environmental protection, standard issue 9mm pistol, modified SMG with retractable stock, shortened barrel and reflex sights, backpack with medical gear

Origins: Born in Prague, graduated on high school. When the european conflict came, he was studying 3rd semester od medicin studies. At first it didn't look like the conflict is going to be widespread, and when Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland were invaded, everyone was so surprised that it didn't take much effort to completely overrun these countries.

Alex's father joined underground resistance, but eventually resistance was crushed, family killed, Alex barely escaped. Having nowhere to go, with a help of friend he left a country and joined French Foreign Legion. After few months of training he was deployed on western front as combat medic.

After the 4 years of the service in FFL, when the war ended, Alex obtained french citizenship and stayed in France. He was thinking about setting up a civil medical practice, finding a woman and starting the family. These were and still are his dreams, but reality is a bit more difficult. He ran into money issues and when he received an offer from his former superior officer to join a new international unit onboard of No Regret spaceship as a leader of medical team, he didn't refuse.

Now his most used tools of work are antidepressants and anti-wart liniment. Till now, his job although safe, comfortable and well paid, was a little bit boring. Therefore, when the captain asked him to assist a ground team on the recon mission in the moon laboratory that recently stopped broadcasting a comm signal , he accepted wholeheartedly. At least he's gonna see something else than grey walls of the ship.

This information is classified. If you are not the officer destined to it, reading this is forbidden, and you may be sanctioned according to the ITO military regulations.

Name : Thomas Candela

Nickname : Tank

Age : 31

Rank : Corporal

Physical appearance : Caucasian (probable Russian ancestry), black eyes, very short black hair, 1m90 (6'3'') for 95kg (210lb). His face is one of the rare parts of his body to not be scarred. His left arm and shoulder were burned twelve years ago, and his skin is darker and has a strange aspect there.

Armour : Experimental powered armour. Originally meant to fill the gap between Walkers and Marines, they only begin to be used in real combat situation to test their performances. The subject was chosen due to is high strength and constitution, allowing him to manipulate the armour with more ease.
It offers a better protection than standard armour, stopping most (non-anti-armour) bullets. It also allows the user to carry heavier weapons and more gear, and is equipped with advanced sensors, like thermal camera, light amplifier and radiation detectors. Its theoretical autonomy, thanks to its B- battery, is eight years in passive mode. A full use will discharge the accumulators in two hours. However, the increased mass slows down movement and prevent silent movement. While it is still possible to use standard weapons, its thicker gloves will make it far more difficult and prevent any precise fire.

Primary weapon : A modified light machine gun, equipped with standard removable grenade launcher and red dot, a standard scope is generally carried as well for longer ranges. The powered armour allows the subject to use it more as an assault rifle, but its mass (and the one of the armour) will make it clumsy at point-blank range, and such combat situation should be avoided.

Secondary weapon : A modified automatic bullpup shotgun. This weapon is also experimental, designed to give a high-power side arm to go with the powered armour. With a fire rate of 120 shot/minute, 8 shells magazines and the curious bullpup design, it is a tricky weapon to use. More adapted to close quarter combat than the LMG, when used with one hand it is very difficult to hit a target further than at point-blank range, even helped by the powered armour.

Knife : Surprisingly, he doesn't use the larger version of the combat knife developed for the powered armour, but instead chose a machete kept from a previous mission in a jungle. Previous officers tried to dissuade him to do so, without success so far.
The strength and mass of the powered armour compensate the loss of agility, and the subject revealed to be a formidable unharmed (or machete-armed) fighter with it during training, but a combat situation involving hand-to-hand combat is improbable, as a hypothetical opponent could easily flee.

The subject also carries two offensive hand grenades and a defensive hand grenade. This one should be used carefully, as more lightly armoured friendlies may be caught in the lethal radius.
The request of the subject for a shoulder gun controlled by eye movement was refused for budget and feasibility reasons.

Background : The subject was born in Europe (precise location unknown), and was raised in at least three different European states. At the age of thirteen, he emigrated to Mars with his family, and began working there at the age of eighteen in a private security company. At the age of twenty-eight and after six years in an assault team, he left the company for unknown reasons.
Rumours say that he punched a staff officer in the face, but he never made any comment about it.
He subsequently returned to Earth and joined the European army, affected to a special assault team six months later. His nickname 'Tank' comes from an episode where entrenched enemies tried to shoot him down with outdated antitank rockets. Fortunately for him, they missed (but not by far).
Two years ago, he was affected to the Interstellar Marines program due to his effectiveness in the assault team and his impressive constitution. After two successful missions, he joined the powered armour development project, and this is his first combat mission with such equipment. He was instructed to bring the powered armour back at any cost, but if the situation present itself, I doubt he would abandon the field for this reason.

Personality : Generally a nice person, he is the kind of guy you want to stop hostiles from passing a corridor. He is courageous and will hold the position until the situation is resolved. In fact, you may have to order him to retreat, it is not something he will naturally do, unless against overwhelming force. He tends to keep his head cold during battle, and while he may express some tension if the situation is really dire, I do not think he would snap without a truly soul-crushing experience. You should still try to avoid those, anyway.
In fact, I don't know if all this is because he is really courageous or because he is not that bright. Not to say he is stupid, but he has quite a lack of imagination. Most of his tactical sense consists in 'shoot the enemy and survive longer than him', so I suggest you to give him orders instead of letting him acting autonomously. That said, his survival capabilities in applying such tactic can be surprising.
His personal style as well as his equipment makes him unable to react fast against sudden threats on his back, and he will trust his squad-mates to cover him as much as you can trust him to cover them.
I recommend not ordering him to accomplish morally debatable acts, he is known to not take those very well. Similarly, try to not commit such acts in front of him.
Oh, and his humour is not that funny.

Spred, I hate leaving this last but your first real post was after everyone's first. Your grammar and spelling left much to be desired, and there was no clear indication of when or if Sev spoke. You not only breezed through your own characters attitude and behavior but also breezed through any detailed description of your to-be team-mates. You also added sharks onto the ship and tried to change the setting, this and have other previous power-struggles with me as the GM counted against you. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to sit this out.

Quote from the "Adventue"-thread. GM means Game Master, because this is his Role Play Game and he controls it. In layman's terms, you're out. Can't stand grumpy people is also not a weakness.

Name: David (Dave) Manuel, former Captain (hope that's okay; he's quite old after all)

I.T.O. Zero Environment Combat Suit, top helmet on the PotW, night- and infrared vision. Medium armor protection.

Attributes: Former SPECOP operative, later COMOPS black operations, then freelance hired gun, therefore vast experience in the field. Exceptionals skills with an assault rifle and moreso with a pistol, Krav Maga CQB training. Most skills revolve around unconventional thinking and guerilla operations as well as "advanced interrogation" and intimidation; basically, all the unfair stuff, combined with a great memory of facts that could be important and of people to call. Doesn't like the actual fighting too much.

Personality: After having spent his life as a soldier or mercenary, all that matters to David is his family and few friends, and that's to be taken literally - outside of them, he has lost all regards for human life or wellbeing, he's made himself a sociopath and essentially a bitter, cynical person. He has some basic ethics left, but if it comes to handling an enemy, he'll do what he thinks is neccessary... No matter what the Geneva or Hague Conventions say. He has killed so many and tortured so many others he just doesn't care any more. He is aware of that, yet has accepted it without questioning - thus, every step just makes him lonelier, more relentless and sad. If not for his wife and kids, David would have snapped long ago and even today, he is on the edge all the time... Always close to losing his humanity altogether, slipping into depression and apathy.

Stats: Caucasian, dark grey hair and beard, green eyes, 5'10" (1.78 m), weight: 77 kgs (170 lbs), scar on left cheek, athletic. Age: 58 years. History: Major in political sciences, former ITO NAVOP and ITO RDU, unknown role in ITO SPECOP division and several ITO COMOPS missions. Retired at the age of 42, became a privateer and offered tier-one special forces work for cash, which his former superiors didn't like too much. They offered him to work for them again, otherwise his questionable actions during that time would be used to put him behind bars for war crimes (bear in mind, COMOPS had taught him those things themselves).

Weapons and Equipment: Compact assault rifle Kampff F-11, reflex sight for quick target acquiration at short distances, detachable suppressor. A 6mm AP pistol, detachable suppressor. Standard survival kit with basic first aid equipment, emergency rations and the like. Several meters of rope, two fragmentation grenades, two flashbang grenades, one smoke grenade. Multitool, knife.

TROLL MODE ACTIVATED! Oh no, Marine, why would you quit and leave us after we explicitely asked you in a clear and straight forward manner that you should sit this one out? I don't understand

Name - Jena Strelik

Rank - E-6 Staff Sergeant

Alias(s)/Nickname(s) - Rivet (widely used), Clamp or Lefty (typically used behind her back)

MOS - 1371 Combat Engineer, 2A5X1 Aerospace Maintenance, 2T3X2 Special Vehicle Maintenance

Nationality - Though her parents are both Russian, SSgt. Strelik was born and raised in the United States.

Known Languages - English, Russian, some Spanish and Chinese

Sex - Female

Age - 28

Height - 5' 4" (1.62m)

Weight - 109 lbs. (49.4kg) w/o any form of synthetic arm.

Eyes - Hazel

Hair - Blond and cut short, similar to a pixie cut.

Physical Issues - Missing her left arm at the mid humerus from the incident involving -REDACTED-. SSgt. Strelik was issued a basic pneumatic based replacement limb with an added 3,000 PSI compressor for aiding in her work.

Issued Firearm - Standard 9mm Pistol (I can't for the life of me find what the IM pistols are named)

Standard Combat Uniform - Base unarmored IM uniform suit with a Kevlar underweave, standard issue helmet with a widened visor for 180 degree vision and an automatic darkening switch for welding.

Additional Equipment - Personal tool belt outfitted with tools depending on the mission she is on; a backpack with ten thermite micro-charges (mostly for lock breaking and destruction of small devices), three thermite grenades (for anti-material uses), a 3'x4' folding silica work pad, mission specific spare tools, and PMA connection cables; and a satchel containing her PMA (Personal Maintenance Aid) pre-loaded with mission-specific blueprints, repair instructions, and base software.

Personality Profile - Has a tendency to anger and become frustrated quickly. This however doesn't temper her need to finish everything she starts. Both probably stem from feelings of inadequacy after her left arm was destroyed during -REDACTED-. It should also be noted that SSgt. Strelik does not work well with others, though she'll put up with it if the situation dictates.

Note - Should the opportunity present itself, the redacted sections may be revealed during the story.

Good to see all the character profiles in, time to start~

Marine, we did give you a lot of advice to help improve yourself and enhance your skills. Quite frankly I spent a lot of my own personal time to give the advice to you and tried very hard to help you and encourage you along that way, all of which appears to have been ignored. And not even knowing what a GM is and trying to join a roleplay? Come on. I did my best, and I'm leaving it at that. I'm not mad, not trying to appear like it either. I polity asked you to sit this one out, now I shall ask you to please stop posting here, I want to make this a clean and easy to access thread for my players. Nothing against you, I just don't think your ready yet.

Interval 1: Debrief

Sebastien stood in the armory awaiting his team. He had prepared the debriefing for them in advance and was making sure there were no glitches in the projection. Holographic technology is so glitchy, but the only blue-prints of the area they were going into were in holograms. This made him wonder though, why make the only prints of a top secret laboratory in a glitchy and faulty system? Sure it'd keep the blueprints themselves would be secure, but in cases like this how were we suppose to help?

Sebastien shook his head, and tried to focus on the matters at hand. He saw his team enter, John was a tad late and very tired. Sebastien knew he probably rushed them too much, but he had to. These last minute changes needed to be addressed along with the rest of the information they needed to know. On top of that a squad leader needed to be voted for, well 'chosen' but Sebastien doesn't need to disclose his pick was the popular choice. He face his team, saying "Rally 'round ladies and gents." The second Sebastien said that he felt so cheesy, but it helped him put a large smile on his face. The team circled in around the hologram, the only thing in the room to really gather around.

The hologram displayed a wide cave on the very tip of the 3-d picture. Towards the end of the shallow cave, there was a similarly large and flat box on top of a long shaft that went down a good 100 meters. At the base there was a small length platform that lead to a fairly small door, probably 2.1 meters tall and 1.8 meters wide. Beyond that door was a large hexagon shaped building complex, the science laboratory itself. Lining the hallways of the interior were many dotted small rooms, mostly looking like containment areas. At each point there was a larger room, two were specially marked G-1 and G-2. Another two were labeled T-1, T-2, and the final two were labeled CC and SC.

Sebastien let everyone examine the graphic themselves for a moment, then began his long winded speech.

"Our mission, as you know it, is to go into this laboratory you see before you and discover why it has ceased communications. This could be a simple generator malfunction, or as complex as a terrorist take over. Making matters worse we don't know what the laboratory was committed to doing... However, we do know something. As of today I have been informed that the laboratory was committing some kind of genetic research and that we are to successfully extract someone know as Specimen 1. However this is only if the laboratory is compromised, otherwise we are to get communications back online and then come back home. The nature of the research is unknown to us, but I have been assured Specimen 1 will not harm us. The generator rooms are marked on this diagram here as G-1 and G-2, both of equal power but only one needs to be operational. T-1 and T-2 are unknown to us. SC is the security center and CC is the command center. Both of which have complete control of the laboratory's systems and defenses respectively. Should we need to shut down security sentries and drones we head for SC, and should we need to gain access to the mainframe and doors we hack into CC. Be alert but fingers off the triggers, we don't know if the laboratory has been compromised yet."

Finishing his speech Sebastien let out an exaggerated sigh. Still smiling, he walked over to the closest wall and put his hand on it. A few beeping and hissing noises later the walls popped out to reveal the armory's weapon cache. Sebastien turned once more to his team members, his persistent smile staying strong, and said "All your weapons and equipment should be here. Tank your armor suit is already loaded aboard the Megalodon we'll be taking planet-side. Ammo can be located on the south wall there." He pointed to the wall he was talking about so his team knew where to look. He quickly added "Before you all run off, I'd like everyone to participate in a vote. I'm the commander on this mission, but there needs to be a squad leader, I want you all to vote on who that might be." With that he walked closer to his team. When he was close enough he clasped his hands together and said with that smile of his "Any nominees?"
