"Last week I finished Area A inside the CR1 map, which was all about establishing one large bunker building with two sub-levels, inspired heavily by one of the rooms from our Operations map in-development, with tunnels connecting the complex with the terrain around each side. |

"I've been working on getting the marine animation prototype up and running properly in a networked session. As was expected this has spawned a bunch of questions, of which some of them have been answered, while others will hopefully be answered at the end of our current sprint (next week). The questions are mostly related to technical design decisions. |

"This week has been set in the world of SketchUp - have been trying to come up with a building design for Deadlock from which Kim can use modules for other things (this prevents the need for very specialized types) - like with the "shack" modules i needed to come up with a modular system for a "bunker'ish" structure. |

"This week I have been assisting mister Heks with getting animation moved onto our marine pawn. I have also started prepping for shooting the weapon (visually speaking), and digging out the old gun fx from Running Man. The animation pipeline had some final work done, so that I can export separate animations for the weapons". |

I think you can expect something playable but not Deadlock. The guns are not fully operational yet. But it's moving forward nicely :-)

Well, Tuesday we'll have a first iteration of Deadlock, then... Well, it's still a long way to go until Interstellar Marines: First Contact is finished. Nobody can tell.

This is only a "sprint" in terms of scrum - so that basicly means the devs made themselves a goal (we dont know if that is a playable deadlock or not) that is supposed to be reached next week. So dont get your hopes up guys ;)

Sorry for the confusion, gals/guys .. InfectedDingo and forgefire are right, I meant to write Lunch, which is where our current Sprint ends. So, yet again my fixation on Launch-able weapons, releases etc. have spawned confusions! :)
I can tell you this much; we have a very ambitious release date for Deadlock 0.0.1, which is before the world explodes in fireworks ... with the release of the very basic iteration 01 of our multiplayer, that we'll then further expand on and make better with each Sprint moving forward after the initial release! (Minecraft style) :)

Sure thing, the overarching plan moving forward past the initial Deadlock release, will most diffidently allow to share our Sprint commitments pre and post sprint; because we'll all be playing these updates, tweaks, additions etc, when we continuously updates Deadlock with our work as frequent as possible! :)

to my recant reasearch i discovered running man came 5 months after bullsye so after
deadlock the next alpha realese iin theory will be in april (my b-day) after the 6th
chapter of the beta is what i bilieve is next so in another 5 months septembre 2012
10 days before the actual game realese! FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME

@marine565_spred the full game wont come out for a long while ;) I think it is safe to say that it wont happen in 2012.
Even if running man came 5 months after bullseye, deadlock has taken a lot longer to develop. The team is smaller than it used to be so things take time - we just have to accept that ;)

well deadlock took 4 months after running man but this is a theory and plus if you havnt noticed there progressing really well the guys at zps are hardworking game genuises
i am very patient but i have been reaserching for 3 days this is what i know they
have good proggreison in campain all multiplayer modes seem done i think co op is next each demo represents there progression the vault they have got some basic mechanics bullseye
guns are next running man campain is doing well deadlock multiplayer is almost done
the next of previews are not far so us marines got to push it to the limit to help these guys
at zps

Well, many of us have been following around for months or YEARS... ;) The Vault came out 25 months ago, five months after the site was launched; then Bullseye took about 3.5 months, 4.5 months for Running Man, then there was a fundraising phase with a little bit of time spent for making a Kongregate-ready version of Bullseye. In March 2011, real work for Deadlock began, which is eight months and counting. It will take a long time for a ready-for-public version of Deadlock to be released, so let's assume Deadlock will have taken ten months to a year of development until it's finished.
The next thing would be a mini-campaign with cooperative multiplayer, propably similar to Running Man, but with the updates to the engine Unity 3.5 (or 4.0?) will give us and Deadlock's multiplayer architecture and updated graphics, which means more open areas, better lighting, propably downloadable. I don't think this can be done in less time than Deadlock. So - even the work for the First Contact Campaign will propably not even start in 2012.
Of course they are hardworking geniuses, why do you think I'm writing in yellow? But they are less than a dozen people at a time, so it takes time. Be patient, Marine. We will engage. Just not right now.

oh buddy have you NOT watched and read anuthing really? for example photo sesion was actauly FROM first contact campain running man is the first 3 days of campain deadlock is a taste of the versus multiplayer..... i think chapter 7 will be a demo for shark creatures like the one using unreal engine chapter 8 will be first contact BETA. guys they are currently making the full game with demo thou they are more fuccused on demo slowly there working on campain they are currently getting nick nacks in shape and are intensly adding new stuff like a weak ago with the armour stuff . they are in a proccess of make and add on. PS im becoming a spearhead soon :)

This community is commonly known to be the friendliest and most forgiving FPS community in the world, but really, marine565_spred? You are way off and you are misinterpreting a lot of things. The photo session is a rendering simply made from 3d software and doesn't contain any gameplay. Running Man is a playable prologue as it's not nearly as "rich" as the campaign is supposed to be (only one weapon, no coop, for example). Deadlock will propably be very close to actual finished versus multiplayer in First Contact, but of course not contain as much equipment, weapons and options. There was one Demo level finished in Unreal Engine 3 which was shown to publishers during GDC 2008, but since the "reboot" with Unity and AAA Indie, the focus has been on the playable slices. Only after Deadlock and the Coop Slice will have been made, they will start working on the real First Contact Campaign because they hope Deadlock and the Coop Slice will attract investors and more Spearheads. AAA Indie fundraising is not easy.
I seriously doubt that you should have better knowledge about the game than me or Dingo; I've been a member and Spearhead for well over a year now and I have read every single article, Question of the Week or Sitrep, I have watched every video and seen every picture of IM there is. I have played the s**t out of every slice and actually made some content (which menas, my avatar :D). You can trust me on this.
And there will not be any Spetsnaz. This is not Call of Duty.

I am so glad I finish school on Wednesday~
I'll be even happier if I can run it on my laptop here. Macs are cursed with the inability to operate games well, and well, the awesomeness of Deadlock may be too much for my puny laptop to withstand.
Course if all else fails I can just use my Thu'um to make the laptop work.~

but really guys they have been working on Im for three years now the intial idea spawned back in 93 so I THINK THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON FIRST CONTACT A LOOOOONG TIME BEFORE COMMUNITY LAUNCH IN 2009 so i think we might actually see this game coming in some while there currently using unity (not the best engine for game as big as this) unity is complicated engine soooo they have had time. though they are mostly focused on the alpha realeses so they have alot on there hands but they are slowly working on first contact.
after first contact realse i think they will know more on what there trying to acomplish they know there guns there stuff and we might see IM 2 come out even better

They have indeed been working on it before 2009 - have you checked out the looong gameplay vid from the Unreal Developers Demo, GDC 2008 in the Briefing Room? But only in 2009 they switched to Unity and had to start lots of things from scratch.

Well the rating system tends to say anything with a gun and blood is M, rather silly if you ask me but whatever.
Honestly I think it should receive a T rating unless they plan to use profound language at certain parts of the game to emphasis the emotion of the situation. We all know shouting dangit isn't as powerful a statement as it's more crude equivalent. Regardless as I previously said the rating system tends to be over strict and thus it will probably be M.
Of course we can all just say the M stands for Marine. ;)

Also, if you want to know how much has already been done - just make it a proposal for the QotW (Question of the Week) as soon as the last one is finally answered. The developers will be glad to tell us aout every last bit of progress they have made!

I really wish I could find it, but I am quite sure that Kim has commented on the progress of first contact on the forums at some point, (We need a dev tracker!) and if I remmeber correct he basicly said that they have not started first contact content after the unity switch but are focused on the different slices instead.
I like the idea of rating the game "M" for marine hehe

well GOOD idea we need a dev tracer i did see that in forum and we might see first contact coming soon our mambye another year who knows?!! but i have known that ARE working on first contact but as far as i am concerned we dont need slices BUT THE GAME. we could have one more but that should be it. well the only bad word I EVER heared in the slices was sh**
so the language wouldnt be strong language so yea. there isnt any gore in IM that i know of.
so chances it will be T or pegi 15 0r 12.

Thing is, they need the slices. If they had the money, they propably would go right for First Contact, but they must first fundraise it, gain investors and new Spearheads and so on. Sadly, a disadvantage of AAA Indie.

well they can use the 2008 demo mod it a bit than presto!!! the 8th slice could be a beta for first contact! one final thing how do you particpate in alpha realses? look i know they started using unity but if they want this game to turn to realty they should follow what i said!

Switching engine is a huge deal, it involves so many changes... They would be thrown back years. They stopped using Unreal because their prices were to high, they couldn't afford using it. I don't recall when exactly, but during one ATD, Hicks said they actually liked Unity a lot better and would definitely stick with it. If they switched back to Unreal, they'd propably lose a lot of time as all progress since 2009 would be gone.
Alpha releases should be released in the Briefing Room on top of the page, I guess.
