Legacy Editions: Teaser and Trailer
published Wednesday, 13 May 2009, 18:54 by ZPSHicks
The trailer that really got things cooking back in 2006. It's been downloaded more than 3 million times, and it's the reason why we're still around. The interest you've showed in INTERSTELLAR MARINES has helped us fund development up till today.
This is the "LEGACY EDITIONS" of the TEASER launched November 2005 and the TRAILER launched May 2006.
When the TEASER and the TRAILER was created back in 2005, we did not have the processing power to render out all the frames in HD, which means that our native resolution on the two videos was "only" SD (720x405|16:9).
We have Remastered the original uncompressed source files to give you guys the videos in HD which is a bit more modern. Even the versions of the videos we hosted on our own website had to be compressed a lot due to bandwidth restrictions during launch back in 2005 and 2006.
The TEASER and the TRAILER was released as initial "Proof of Concept" to demonstrate the idea, feel, look and convey the quality, originality and excitement to everybody.
- We adjusted the contrast a bit
- We upscaled both videos to 1280x720
- We gave the source a "Sharpen" filter
- We added the new logo sections

HD remaster of our "Project IM" teaser launched November 2005!

Man, we were pressed for time. Four guys working flat out for six month to do the trailer, and investors tightening the screws to get something out to the community. We had to publish something, and this was what we had to show.
It looks a bit old today, but man, it brings back memories. Simple as it may look, it still got publishers to call us up to learn more about the project. Of course it was way premature, but the feedback from the community gave us the confidence to keep going and finish the trailer.
The Photo Session, by the way, is a tribute to this teaser, and an acknowledgement to all the people who showed interest in the project back then.

When I heard about this and saw this trailer awhile ago (about 2 years) I thought it had best graphics. But I thought the shark and the people faces I thought it was a bit to cartoony. Now it looks awesome! The sharks look more real and face are better polished.

You guys rock! Kudos for the AAA Indie approach and sticking with it, good to see something without the EA or Ubisoft logo attached to it for once. I have the utmost faith in you guys, the trailer is awesome remember seeing it back in '06 and it only gets better each time I watch it (5 times), cant wait to see some updated previews!

Seen some release dates of 31th December. Is that a correct release date or is it just a really foolish guess by the computer magasines?
Greetings from Sweden!!!

Magazine companies like to give you release dates for some reason. The 31st of December is basically their way of saying "Probably late this year, Early next year."
They probably aren't right about that either.

hmmm....looks good, but what will define it from any other shooter game?
f1rezzz:
3 years, 7 months ago
yeah its looks great and well its a fps there is not much to be different only thing it define it from the others is your interest of it :)
hateregistratio:

Well, I think the shark hybrid is a very weak concept. It is not a new creature, just a bunch of elements taken from across the animal reign and stitched together. The typical design idea that sounds exciting on writing but if you translate it literally to visuals it's just plain dumb. If you take the aggressive quality and the simplicity of the shark and combine them with the speed of a hound and the intensity of a crocodile and build a whole new creature making sure at the same time that it looks consistent with the environment conditions you are putting it into, well, then you might create something. Copying and pasting elements from different animals does not work, sorry. Especially when your creature is mainly a submarine one and is placed in a plain realistic off the water, gravitational, on dry land kind of environment. The believability of the creature is what makes it scary, uneasy. Slightly wrong is what is deeply troublesome, not completely wrong.
A good note on the lighting and clean texturing of the environments. It feels good and it promises good fighting visibility.
