It’s time to bring out the “T” in tactical combat!

This update we’re introducing the first iteration of one of our central tactical movement mechanics; namely the ability to boost your movement stance at the expense of noise (volume/range) and weapon accuracy.

To increase the immersion and dynamics of the combat we’ve added casings and smoke to the SMG as well as impact light to metal sparks. We’ve also added a few additional options to the settings menu such as v-sync, audio options and post-process effects.

Finally we’ve fixed another nice little batch of bugs, errors and inconsistencies based on all your invaluable feedback.

New Features

  • ADDED: walk/run movement (affects sounds and weapon accuracy)
  • UPDATED: weapon gun model is affected by hip aiming, zooming and movement speeds (multiplayer)
  • ADDED: casing and ejection smoke effects to weapon
  • ADDED: post-processing effects to settings
  • ADDED: "v-sync" toggle option to settings
  • ADDED: audio volume and mute option to settings
  • ADDED: light flashes on metal impact effects

Improvements

  • UPDATED: short wait period (0.5s) after spawn before you can shoot
  • UPDATED: mouse sensitivity in settings to a broader selectable range
  • UPDATED: so only the tonemapping and bloom post-process effects are on by default (performance)
  • UPDATED: the red dot to be slightly smaller
  • UPDATED: the IM logo in menu to include the Early Access update number
  • UPDATED: level camera so it respects the post-processing effects from settings
  • UPDATED: level camera to change positions in half the time

  • FIXED: "game crashes when using FRAPS and starting game"
  • FIXED: Steam exception thrown on quit
  • FIXED: "ODD warning doesn't show in OSX"
  • FIXED: "cannot bind Shift and other modifier keys"
  • FIXED: so bindings are not overwritten if already bound during load
  • FIXED: "bindings are reset to default when not bound"
  • FIXED: "sometimes weapon fires a bunch of bullets on spawn"
  • FIXED: "if firing while going to a menu, the weapon doesn't stop firing"
  • FIXED: "if holding fire while reloading the weapon doesn't start firing when reloading ends"
  • FIXED: "settings button still selected when going from intro to menu"
  • DISABLED: the buggy helmet occlusion prototype

jake585 - of course there will be. it will be focused on co-op for the campaign, but you will be able to play by yourself as well.

aka lets make it easier to spawn camp because now they wont be able to shot when they spawn. Really guys this can be a major problem that can be very frustrating to many players new and old. Multiplier needs something done about this because it has too large of an impact on the outcome of the game.

You will need one support medal or become a Frontliner or Spearhead on the website. I'm going to assume you bought the Spearhead edition on Steam. In that case there is currently no way to link your Steam account to this website. It will be implemented of course but when, I don't know. If you don't wish to wait for that, simply purchase a support medal on the website. It's only 5 dollars.

You have it on Steam right? As I said the feature to link your Steam account to the website has not been implemented yet.

And I'm not going to answer what a Frontliner is since it seems from your second post you've figured it out.

I assume it was due to how some players were shooting as soon as they spawned and accidentally spawnkilling their teammates.

The ability to shoot as soon as you spawn isn't relevant to fixing spawncamping, other solutions such as more intelligent spawning algorithms and such are what fixes that issue.

yay! Sprinting in finally implemented!

The only real complaint I have is that I can sprint forever and shoot fairly accurately while doing it. I end up spending entire matches sprinting non-stop :P

I would limit the amount of time that one can sprint for and remove the ability to ads while sprinting. if you guys want to keep the shooting while sprinting, make it less accurate than it is right now because it's way to easy to hit something like that.

love the new visor sounds :D I spent a lot of time just opening and closing my helmet to listen to it.

there is a graphics bug with the arm not a big thing but its kinda weird... left arm the wrist does completely whack! arm moves a lot but hand does not and the wrist area is not together....

I have to say that I prefer the run/walk features that you can see in the "Running man" demo. There the walk movements are faster and more usefull, and the animation works better (In the steam version sometimes looks like you slide in the ground). In the other side, the running movements are faster but it limits your lateral movements and your power of fire.

Why don't you use the same code of the running man and bullseye demos for implement the steam game?

Movment is a bit slow i liked the speed before the update made for a good fast paced mp experance. maybe a run lock key like capslock.
Spawn camping is going to be a big problem got plenty of kills walking round other teams spawn zone would like to see a stop to it.
But a great start over all realy like were the game is going can not wait to play finshed game.

just some small ideas mostly aesthetics, you could possibly and the ability to lean left and right as to say if i wanted to quickly peak around a corner i could do so with less chance of being shot, another being if the helmet is open and you take a direct hit to the face it is an instakill. all in all it is a very fun to play game i hope you take these ideas inter consideration and best of luck

I'm aware of the larger issue at hand and have made reference to it in earlier post on the first update they released. But as is the best response to spawn campers is a fast reaction time, especially if they aren't behind cover.

Yes they plan to add leaning from behind cover to future patches.

@jake585: Try to play on a server in your geographic location. I understand it still says the server ping is high but your more likely to play with other people with similar disadvantages. I'm on the west coast and I feel like I get the least lag on the west coast server. A

Combat Missions multiplayer game modes? Just like blow up a door, capture an area, long objective type game mode? Maybe some cool battlefield type aspects? Huge maps with open terrain as well as compounds. Not too large I guess.

Will peek and lean be in the game?

It would be cool to have some night vision. Counter it by blinding your opponent with flashlights and lasers.

Question with story. Will there be any human opponents? Such as planets moons or space stations that have gone rogue? Just some normal everyday humans wanting to have their own slice of the pie.

The SMG in game with that holo scope, to keep with reality you could see how they actually perform, none of the whip around red dot. I find it extremely hard to follow and I tend to spray and pray with the laser sight with high accuracy and kills.

Map ideas - City - Outskirts pretty much open save for a scattering of buildings, a small industrial complex is the largest object in the outskirts, the suburbs, lined with homes and a park, then the city, multiple story buildings.

I do think destruction would be insanely fun to have, the very least be able to shoot through thin walls/objects. It would not be trying to clone BF or CoD as Destruction is being incorporated into more and more games, and it is just plain fun to do. I know it is not possible at this point but maybe in the future?

I recommend lowering the area the flashlight illuminates, as it is quite large. Also lower the intensity a little bit, where it is only completely blinding if staring right into the bulb.
The laser sight (Laser pointer) Should not be visible only at the start point and end point, unless at night where the entire laser is visible.
